Experience

Since 1983, John T. Curran has been practicing in the areas of banking and real estate. He represents lenders in secured financing transactions, specializing in the financing of multi-family housing, as well as commercial office buildings and shopping centers. In addition to the transactional side, he regularly provides advice to major institutional clients on drafting all phases of loan documentation, including commitment letters, notes, mortgages and guaranties. He regularly provides advice to the firm's commercial banking clients to ensure continuing compliance with federal and state regulations governing lending and mortgages.

Mr. Curran's experience also extends to the servicing arena. He has broad experience in all phases of mortgage foreclosures and enforcement, ranging from major commercial loans to single family houses and cooperative apartments. He is a contributing author to a publication by the New York State Bar Association entitled "Mortgage Foreclosures in New York". He has represented lenders in commercial bankruptcy workouts, privately negotiated workouts and the sale of distressed properties. He has supervised and guided the firm's banking clients through many bulk sales of REO properties.

Mr. Curran litigates many other matters on behalf of the firm's banking clients, including title claims, account disputes, receivership issues, landlord-tenant disputes and contract disputes. His experience extends to the appellate level, having successfully argued and guided numerous cases through the appellate process. Mr. Curran has served as a guest lecturer on several CLE panels, speaking on the topic of Mortgages and Mortgage Foreclosures.
