Victor A. Fortkiewicz
Victor A. Fortkiewicz has extensive executive experience in providing fiscal, operations, regulatory, and strategic leadership in the energy and utility industries in both the private and public sectors. A results-focused leader, he has highly developed personal skills with the proven ability to manage conflict and forge consensus in uniquely challenging situations.
Mr. Fortkiewicz’ public sector experience was served from January 2005 – June 2010, first as Assistant Counsel to the Governor of New Jersey and then as the Executive Director of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. As the BPU Executive Director beginning in September 2005, Mr. Fortkiewicz advised the President and the Commissioners on policy and agenda matters including rate filings, mergers, management audits, financings, and legislation. He oversaw the Divisions of Energy, Water and Wastewater, Audits, Telecommunications, Cable Television, Reliability and Security, and the Office of the Economist. Among Mr. Fortkiewicz’ accomplishments was the implementation of a $1.0 Billion energy infrastructure program in 2009. Upon leaving government service, Mr. Fortkiewicz’ contributions to public service and his expertise, integrity and fairness were recognized in a joint legislative resolution by the New Jersey Senate and General Assembly.
Mr. Fortkiewicz’ private sector career was spent in a 25 year career at Elizabethtown Gas Company where he served as President and Director at the time of its merger with AGL Resources in November 2004. A Professional Engineer, Mr. Fortkiewicz also had responsibility for the affiliated gas utilities in Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Maryland. Mr. Fortkiewicz has led efforts to obtain regulatory approval for both the acquisition and divestiture of utility properties. While at Elizabethtown, Mr. Fortkiewicz served on the Board of Directors and as President of the New Jersey Utilities Association, the statewide trade association of gas, electric, water, wastewater, and telecommunication companies.
Professional & Community Activities
In November 2010, Mr. Fortkiewicz was elected to the Board of Directors of South Jersey Industries and South Jersey Gas Company and serves on the Governance and Corporate Responsibility Committees.
