Christopher Ruggiero

Christopher Ruggiero has joined the litigation practice of Cullen and Dykman LLP to lead the Construction Litigation Division in New York, and to manage the firm's Construction and Labor Law Practice Groups.

Christopher's practice consists of both general litigation and commercial litigation, including construction, construction defect, premises liability, labor law, mass torts, toxic/environmental torts, property damage, employment, discrimination, insurance coverage and the litigation of various commercial matters, including contractual disputes. He also represents clients in professional liability litigation that involves architects, surveyors and engineers. Mr. Ruggiero has successfully defended design professionals in lawsuits and arbitrations against claims of errors and omissions, including negligence, design errors and misrepresentation.

For over 25 years, the team has handled some of the largest construction design professional liability claims in New York. Our experience with large exposure design claims at high profile projects, including Lincoln Center and the Hearst Building, has provided unparalleled opportunity to work with the best professionals in the world. Christopher has defended numerous cases in state and federal court with respect to design and professional claims, involving electrical, mechanical, surveying, excavation, curtain wall, window wall, civil engineering, HVAC design defects, construction management claims, delay claims, scheduling disputes, specifications defects and change orders.

It is our priority to work closely with the professionals to best understand their practice and how we can protect their interests when claims are asserted against them. We have also litigated many cases in all judicial venues involving sheeting and shoring defects, improper boundary and property surveying claims, structural, architectural, design contract disputes, specification defects and civil engineering and geotechnical design defect claims. We handle these design claims and professional liability suits in many states including New York and New Jersey. Professional liability insurers have chosen us to represent their professional insureds, including architects and engineers as select counsel.

Christopher represents building owners, construction companies, professionals and corporations, and develops and manages case strategy in both state and federal courts.
