Scott M. Shapiro

Scott M. Shapiro has joined the Construction Tort Litigation group at Cullen and Dykman. Mr. Shapiro concentrates his practice in general and commercial litigation, including construction and construction defect and insurance coverage. He specializes in New York State Labor Law claims and related contractual claims and property damage, mass tort, toxic tort, and products and general liability cases in the State and Federal courts of New York and New Jersey.

Mr. Shapiro also focuses his practice on professional liability and has extensive experience in meeting the special needs of architects, engineers, contractors, other design professionals, and in the handling of general civil litigation matters.

For over 25 years, the team has handled some of the largest construction design professional liability claims in New York. Our experience with large exposure design claims at high profile projects, including Lincoln Center and the Hearst Building, has provided unparalleled opportunity to work with the best professionals in the world.

Mr. Shapiro represents general contractors and construction companies at all tiers, building owners and developers.

It is our priority to work closely with the professionals to best understand their practice and how we can protect their interests when claims are asserted against them. We have also litigated many cases in state and federal court involving sheeting and shoring defects, improper boundary and property surveying claims, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, design contract disputes, specification defects and civil engineering and geotechnical design defect claims. We handle these design claims and professional liability suits in many states including New York and New Jersey. Professional liability insurers have chosen us to represent their professional insureds, including architects and engineers as select counsel.
