Christopher Buckey joined Cullen & Dykman in 2017. Mr. Buckey represents businesses, municipalities and individuals in a broad array of litigation, including complex commercial disputes, employment litigation, shareholder and partnership disputes, construction litigation, trade secret and covenant not to compete litigation and constitutional and civil rights litigation. Mr. Buckey has extensive trial and appellate experience before state and federal courts throughout New York State, including the New York State Court of Appeals.
Mr. Buckey recently was lead trial and appellate counsel for a real estate developer in connection with high profile litigations with a municipality arising out of a $350 million mixed use development. Mr. Buckey obtained dismissal of both lawsuits commenced by the municipality against the developer, recovered more than $1 million for the developer and successfully litigated a specific performance claim related to the municipality’s breach of the parties’ underlying agreement.
Mr. Buckey also successfully litigated Article 78 proceedings and related appeals on behalf of New York Counties seeking recovery of Medicaid reimbursements from the State of New York, recovering in excess of $25 million for those counties.
Mr. Buckey has extensive constitutional litigation experience including the dismissal of controversial litigation against a retail shopping center and municipality involving free speech and equal protection claims under the New York State Constitution.
