Deirdre M. Mitacek

Since 1996, Ms. Mitacek has been advising clients on all aspects of federal and state income tax matters.  She has extensive experience advising corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies and their owners on the tax implications of a variety of transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, mergers, reorganizations and dissolutions.  Ms. Mitacek routinely assists the firm’s banking clients in determining how to properly satisfy their information reporting obligations with respect to interest payments, foreclosures, property abandonments and other reportable events.

In addition, Ms. Mitacek routinely advises economic and community development organizations, educational institutions, public charities and private foundations on issues relating to their formation, governance, obtaining and maintaining federal, state and local tax exemptions, and various other tax and state law matters.

Ms. Mitacek’s practice also includes the representation of  utility companies in a variety of matters, including ratemaking and other proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the New York State Public Service Commission.

Honors & Awards

  • In 2006, Ms. Mitacek received a Cornerstone Award for her commitment to providing pro bono legal services to community and economic development organizations and other not-for-profit organizations in New York City from New York Lawyers’ Alliance . In 2004 she was recognized as one of Long Island’s Pro Bono Attorneys of the Year by the Touro Law Center.
