Deirdre M. Mitacek
Deirdre Mitacek is an Of Counsel in the firm’s Corporate department. She is also a member of the firm's Not-for-Profit and Education Law Practice Groups.
As part of the Not-for-Profit and Education Law Practice Group, Ms. Mitacek advises colleges and universities, economic and community development organizations, public charities and private foundations on issues relating to formation, governance and board matters, contract review and negotiations, fund raising, conflicts of interest, dissolutions, and obtaining and maintaining federal, state and local tax exemptions, and various other tax and state law matters.
Ms. Mitacek frequently represents utility companies in a variety of matters involving energy and utility transactions and regulations. Her practice includes advising clients on all aspects of obtaining permits for the siting of major utility facilities in New York State, as well as in ratemaking, consumer complaint cases, and other proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the New York State Public Service Commission and other federal and state agencies.
Ms. Mitacek also routinely advises clients on a variety of general corporate matters. She assists clients on issues including choice of entity, formation and governance, as well as asset and stock sales, dissolutions and other transactions. Ms. Mitacek has advised corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies and their owners on the tax implications of a variety of transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, mergers, reorganizations and dissolutions. Ms. Mitacek assists the firm’s energy and banking clients in determining how to properly satisfy their information and other periodic reporting obligations.
Prior to joining Cullen and Dykman, Ms. Mitacek was an associate at two nationally recognized law firms located in New York City, advising clients on a wide variety of tax and not-for-profit matters.

In 2004 she was recognized as one of Long Island’s Pro Bono Attorneys of the Year by the Touro Law Center.
