Case Studies
Joseph D. Simon
Joseph D. Simon handles regulatory, compliance, corporate and transactional matters for financial institutions, and real estate matters for all types of clients.
Mr. Simon advises financial institutions on a wide range of issues, including truth-in-lending, RESPA, truth-in-savings, financial privacy, currency transaction and IRS reporting obligations. He has represented financial institutions on various types of regulatory applications, including bank holding company filings, branch applications, mortgage banking license applications, and service corporation and operating subsidiary notices. He deals on a regular basis with state and federal regulatory agencies such as the New York State Department of Financial Services, the FDIC, the Federal Reserve Board, the Comptroller of the Currency, and the National Credit Union Administration. Mr. Simon gave a Telebriefing to members of the New York Bankers Association on New York’s Exempt Income Protection Act, and has also advised financial institutions on the myriad of changes made to the New York power of attorney law.
Mr. Simon also represents landlords and tenants in commercial leases, purchasers and sellers in all types of real estate matters, and lenders in the sale of performing and nonperforming loans.
