Michael G. Hrankiwskyj
Michael Hrankiwskyj is an associate in the firm's Corporate department where he predominantly handles real estate tax matters. He is a graduate of the University at Albany (B.A. History, 2004) and the Albany Law School (J.D. 2006.) He is admitted to practice in the states of New York and New Jersey. Mr. Hrankiwskyj spends his time between both the Firm's Newark and Garden City offices.
Mr. Hrankiwskyj has successfully negotiated substantial reductions before the New York City Tax Commission, Nassau County’s Assessment Review Commission, the Tax Court of New Jersey, and many other local administrative and judicial venues throughout New York. His clients include telecommunication companies, water companies, gas transmission companies, commercial banks, large warehouse and distribution facilities, as well as a wide variety of smaller mixed-use rental properties and owner-occupied properties throughout New York and New Jersey. He has also negotiated with local Industrial Development Agencies (IDA) for clients to enter into PILOT programs with local municipalities.
Mr. Hrankiwskyj’s practice includes assisting not-for-profit entities in obtaining property tax exemptions in New York and working with commercial and industrial clients in seeking property tax benefits for construction work performed in New York City. Mr. Hrankiwskyj also represents clients who have been the subject of eminent domain proceedings in seeking recovery of damages against the local municipality performing the condemnation.
