Cullen and Dykman Wins Two M&A Advisor Turnaround Awards
Cullen and Dykman is pleased to announce that the firm has been recognized by the M&A Advisor in the 13th Annual Turnaround Awards in the categories of Professional Services (B-to-B) Deal of the Year for the Chapter 11 Reorganization of Navillus Contracting and Chapter 11 Reorganization Deal of the Year ($25MM to $50MM) for the Restructuring and Sale of Peekay Boutiques, Inc. The awards were presented on March 28, 2019 in Palm Beach, Florida.
Cullen and Dykman represented Navillus Contracting as lead debtor’s counsel in its Chapter 11 reorganization proceeding in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. In under a year, Navillus confirmed a consensual plan of reorganization which incorporated global settlements that resolved over $200 million in claims and resulted in emergence of the business as a going concern and preservation of over 700 jobs in the New York construction market. The Cullen and Dykman team was led by partners C. Nathan Dee and Elizabeth Aboulafia who successfully partnered with Teneo Capital LLC and Grassi & Co. CPAs as financial advisors to assist Navillus in achieving its successful reorganization.
Cullen and Dykman was also honored to be recognized in its role as counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the Peekay Boutiques chapter 11 case where the firm worked successfully to achieve a sale of the company.
The nominations, representing over 275 participating companies, were judged by an independent jury of industry experts. "The award winners represent the best of the distressed investing and reorganization industry in 2018 and earned these honors by standing out in a group of very impressive candidates," said Roger Aguinaldo, Founder of The M&A Advisor. "In an environment that is increasingly demanding of its professionals, we have recognized the leading transactions, firms and individuals that represent the highest levels of performance.”
