Cullen and Dykman LLP's Municipal department has represented villages, towns, counties, school districts, and various boards and commissions in nearly every aspect of municipal affairs. From drafting resolutions and local laws to advising elected bodies, from election law matters to environmental review proceedings, from tax assessment and tax certiorari to zoning, planning, and land use matters, the firm's municipal experience is second to none. We help our clients comply with competitive bidding laws for public projects and the preparation and review of contracts.
We handle all labor and employment matters for our municipal clients, including ensuring compliance with the Civil Service Law and Taylor Law, negotiating and administering collective bargaining agreements with municipal unions, and providing representation at arbitrations, court proceedings, and administrative proceedings before such agencies as PERB, the EEOC, and the New York State Division of Human Rights as well as local human rights commissions. For decades, attorneys from the firm have served as Village Prosecutors in Village Courts to enforce local laws and state traffic laws.
We are particularly proud of our relationship with the Village of Garden City. Our partner, the late George L. Hubbell, Jr., was Village Attorney for Garden City for over 55 years, and we have represented the Village for over 90 years in virtually every legal matter that it has encountered.
